Volunteering at CNPS
The Importance of Parental Involvement
At Coburg North Primary School (CNPS), parental involvement is highly valued. Parents and carers play a crucial role in creating a supportive environment for our students.
Ways Parents Can Help
- Classroom Helpers: Parents assist with reading, changing home readers, preparing resources, and sharing their expertise.
- Grounds Maintenance: Parents help beautify the school grounds and maintain outdoor spaces.
- Camps, Excursions, and Events: Parents accompany students on trips and special events.
The Volunteer Process
1. Expression of Interest: At the beginning of each year, CNPS announces volunteer opportunities via Compass.
2. Workshops: Volunteers attend a workshop to complete the necessary induction and OHS requirements.
3. Coordination: Once inducted, teachers coordinate with volunteers for scheduling and tasks.
Essential Steps for Volunteering
- Working with Children Check (WWCC): Required for all volunteers.
- Volunteer Induction Handbook: Volunteers review the school's policies and expectations.
- Information Session: Volunteers attend to complete the induction process.
Getting Involved
Each year, CNPS calls for volunteers and conducts workshops at the start of the year. The support of our parent volunteers significantly impacts the school community.
