Body Safety

Picture
Coburg North Primary engages the services of Body Safety Australia to support the delivery of relationships and sexuality education, which is part of the Victorian and National Curriculum.

Body Safety Australia was established in 2015 and celebrates diversity and respect for all. They have specialised knowledge and experience with all types of school settings, including faith based, and with students identifying as LGBTQIA+.

Students at Coburg North Primary participate in the 'Uniquely You' program. It is delivered in a sensitive, factual, age appropriate way, ensuring all students experiences are respected. It focuses on sexuality and relationships from birth, through puberty to adulthood.

Sexuality education supports conversations with families around values, celebrates the diversity of respectful relationships, genders and sexuality, challenges limiting gender stereotypes, encourages healthy decision making and reflects on people's rights and responsibilities towards others.

The program runs once a week for 4-5 weeks, and is preceded by a parent information session so families are informed of all content that will be covered prior to classroom sessions.

Coburg North Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional custodians of the lands and waterways of the land on which our school currently stands. We pay respect to their Elders past and present, as well as to all First Nations’ communities who significantly contribute to the life of the area. We acknowledge the importance of Indigenous knowledge in the Education, and we promise to always show respect, responsibility, and kindness in our actions towards both the land and its people.
