When considering CNPS for your child’s primary education, we encourage you and your child to have a tour of our school and classrooms. Enrolment Ceiling

Coburg North Primary School has an enrolment ceiling. The existence of an enrolment ceiling enables our school to maximise the available learning and play space for students, and enables all students to enroll for whom the school is nearest to their permanent residential address.

Where there are insufficient places for all students who seek entry, the following priority is used for determining which students can be enrolled:

• Students with siblings who will be concurrently attending Coburg North Primary School.
• Students who reside outside the school’s enrolment boundary map, and in order of the closeness of their residential address to the school.
• Students may be enrolled on compassionate grounds.

The Principal has the right to exercise discretionary judgment on matters pertaining to enrolments that are considered ‘special circumstances’.

2026 Foundation (Prep) enrolments

To start primary school in 2026, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April 2026. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2026, you will be able to apply to enrol your child at Coburg North Primary School from the start of Term 2, 2025,
Tuesday 22 April 2025.

The Department of Education (DET) has released a new statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Coburg North Primary School.

What you need to do:

1. Contact our school on (03) 9354 1660 to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process.
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by Tuesday 22 April 2025)
3. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 25 July 2025.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August 2025. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025.
5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025.
6. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after 25 July 2025 will be processed by the school as they are received, in accordance with the Department of Education's Placement Policy.

Orientation And Transition Program For 2026 Foundation Students

There will be a Foundation Information Evening at Tuesday 13th May at 7:00pm or Thursday 26th June at 7:00pm.

We have developed a comprehensive Orientation and Transition program for 2026 Foundation Students and their families. A copy of the program as well as important dates, will be provided to parents during Term 4.
