On Wednesday the green fence went up around the building site. The construction of the building is scheduled to start after Easter.
Thank you to the members of CNPS community who emailed me questions about how the building project would impact on the school. I thought I would answer them in the Newsletter as I am sure a lot of you would wondered about the same issues.
Stages of the build.
There are three stages to the new building project.
Stage 1 is the building of the new Administration and learning area. This will take to the end of the year, with us hopefully moving in before Christmas.
Stage 2 is the redevelopment of the hall, music and art area and the demolition of the building the houses the library and three classrooms. At this time I do not know how long this will take.
Stage 3 involves the removal of the administration building, landscaping and the building of two new basketball courts.
During this time, different parts of the school will be fenced off depending on the area that is under construction.
Use of the playground.
We are lucky that we have such a large oval and, as a staff, we anticipate that most of the ball games will take place there. We will not have access to any basketball courts until the end of the build.
The school does contain some asbestos and this will be removed in the second stage. The removal of the asbestos will done safely following all the guidelines and regulations that are in place for this type of material. It will be removed when the students are not at school by licensed operators.
Trucks and noise
The builders are mindful that we are a school and will try to keep noise to a minimum. When possible deliveries will also organised not to take place at drop off and pick up times.
The Melbourne Farmers Market.
The Farmers Market is moving to the oval. I have worked closely with during this term to ensure that their needs and the school’s needs are meet during this transition stage.
Here is the staging plan for you to have a look at.
If you have any more questions or concerns please email me or drop into my office.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday and I will see you all next term.
