Principal's News

It is good to see everybody back after the holidays. Term two finished well with teachers and parents meeting to discuss student reports and our annual Carnevale day. Thank you to Jackie and Sarah and their helpers for a memorable last day of term. The costumes, performances and competitions provided us with an educational and entertaining day. The teacher’s spaghetti eating competition was my highlight of the day with Kyla Mamic showing the other contestants how it is done. Judging the cooking competition was also a great pleasure with a range of delicious food to sample.

Families who have not yet met with their child’s teacher to discuss the midyear report are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Last term a group of gardeners and people with a passion for sustainability has formed through the Greenthumbs Facebook page. Thank you to the group for the ongoing work you are doing in the garden and the great ideas that are shared on this page.

Term three promise to be another full one with much to look forward to. The whole school Peer Support Program will be running this term and the children are working towards the Student Led Conferences on 19th September in the last week of term.

Planning is continuing to commence our building program in 2018. Thank you to the staff and community members involved in this process.

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school.

It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August.

Approximately 75 families will be randomly invited to participate in this year’s survey and contacted directly. All responses to the survey are anonymous. The survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September. Last year we used the survey results to plan our current Strategic Plan and 2017 Annual Implementation Plan
