At the end of term 1 grades 3-6 were treated to a visit by Anamaska, a group which performs on a variety of unusual instruments from all around the world combining them with modern technologies. It was a very entertaining performance shared with students from the SDS school. Students were well prepared for the concert, having listened to recordings of the band in class.
New music books
When choirs performed at “Live at the Library” on March 10th we were presented with a book voucher for $100. The money was used to buy some books explaining the roles of instruments in the orchestra, some music DVDs and a text book by Ken Robinson. We also obtained some music books from “Allegra Music” which contain compositions of some of our students.
Remember to check out the Music Blog which is easily accessed via the school website. It contains copies of the songs we learn in class as well as copies of permission notes.
Our parent choir, “composed.”is planning to release it’s first CD at the end of the year with some of our student choirs featuring as well. We need more men as we are planning to put one all male song on the CD. Call or text me on 0401881423 if you are interested. We will also be performing at a fundraiser for Medecins sans Frontieres on April 30th 1pm at the Brunswick Uniting Church in Sydney Rd. Other groups on the bill include the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus and the Brunswick Community Gospel Choir.
